Scoring: An overall functional social support index can be obtained by calculating the average of the scores for all 18 items included in the four subscales and the score for the one additional item. A higher score for an individual subscale or for the overall support index
indicates better perceived social support.

Cronbach’s α= 0.90
Convergent validity and known groups validity were both assessed. Factor analysis confirmed that this measure is uni-dimensional.
